I cant seem to import the final AVI into premier of after effects to add my sound to :(
This is a soundless un-smoothed version of my final animation…But thats all I have at the moment, and untill I can sort it out…sorry :(

What can I say? I think it’s become very obvious that I took too much work on and failed to realize it untill those last crucial moments before the hand-in. My project was far too ambitious. I don’t regret the decision to my idea, because there were a lot of reasons behind it, and I’m very glad I achieved what I did, but I still believe that I it would have been more sensible to have gone for something more ‘simple’ or less complicated.
I originally drew my own model sheets to import as image planes into Maya, but I jusy couldn’t seem to get them accurate enough so in the end, I used one I found on a ‘Creative Crash’ tutorial.
I started the torso with a polygon cylinder and extended the verteces from a side angle to fit the model sheet, After I had one side, I started on the other side view, I only created one half of the body then duplicated the ther half through a mirror cut. I did this because it allowed me to create a perfectly symmetrical body on boh sides. I then created one leg with another polygon and then the same with one arm. I duplicated these through a morror cut too.
Because i’m not very good with texturing, and made it even more so difficult for myself by making all of the body shaped so difficult to work with, I ended up using Lamberts and Phong E’s to colour my model. Nevertheless, I did make a good attempt at the texturing, and If I had succeded, Then thats where all my time would have gone and I would probably have had to compromise on something else.
The hair was the thing that confused me the most. I spent the best part of a whole day at uni trying to figure out how it worked and how I could give my model hair, but it got the better of me and now, as a result, my model is bald. I did look at a few tutorials on youtube and asked around some of the third years, but no one seemed to know :( .
What would I change?
Firstly my model would more hair, secondly the animation would be more perfected, thirdly I would have set myself a more achievable goal. These things would have helped me improve the quality of my work.

I’m sorry, but I actually spent all morning making these and I’m pretty damn proud of them =]

Heres the nearly finished half of the body. I ned to make some rough looking feet and hands and adjust the breasts, I’m going to do most of this my extruding

By only creating half the body, I can duplicate it and mirror it so that I can have exactly the same sized limbs and body.

I’ve imported the model sheets into Maya. These are important for be because I need something to use as a guide when I create the body

Kavi showed me this video, I saw that she was building a human body too and she showed me the videos that she was working from. They look helpful :) Shame that its been sped up considerably.

Now that our night out animation project is over, I’m going to spend most of my time focusing on my Maya project.
I can’t seem to find any really good videos of an animated person in Maya, but this one seems quite good. I know that this is going to be incredibly hard work, I’m going to hopefully enjoy it though. I like how the walk cycle has been created in this video, and it varies from running to walking and to throwing a punch.
I’ve found some pretty decent tutorials online on how to create a human head with polygons. I know that I’m definitely going to need to follow a tutorial if I want to get the right proportions on it.

I have finished my model sheet for my animation. I have to make several changes to it at different points because I got some good honest opinions from some cassmates, I think it finally looks ‘good’ though. ‘Good’ meaning that I am satisfied with it.

I’m going to make my own model sheet for my animation so it’s more authentic and I can model my character exactly as want her to be. This is just an example of what I aim for my model sheet to look similar to.
